Journey From Analyst to Product Owner to Scrum Master in the Same Year
Not many people can say they have performed as an Analyst, Product Owner, and Scrum Master, much less in the same year, and sometimes at the same time. That has been my journey throughout 2018 and into 2019 thus far, as I made intentional decisions in pursuing my next best step, exploring where I really fit, and experiencing quite a few surprises along the way.

As a CSM and CSPO, I navigated each role taking what I learned in the classroom and implementing it as a practitioner. I learned what works and doesn't work for me and my teams, as well as, what I like and dislike compared to my strengths and weaknesses, especially among changes in organizational needs and structure.

This short and sweet talk will be an overview of my journey and leave attendees with characteristics of each role to help them decide where they might fit in this agile world and avoid some of the challenges I faced.

How to Avoid a Toxic Transformation
Agile transformations are similar to road trips: without a map to get you to your destination you will most likely end up lost. Avoid kicking off a toxic transformation by starting out on your journey on the right foot.

In this workshop, we will discuss important first steps an organization should take to provide a strong foundation for implementing Agile successfully. Attendees will leave with a transformation framework they can customize to their organization that will begin to place them on the road to becoming more agile.

Using Metrics for Good Not Evil: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the KPIs
Using metrics for punitive reasons is a problem as old as time. In software, this is further complicated by the fact that people rarely agree on why we are collecting metrics in the first place. In this session we will explore how we can use metrics for good instead of evil.

Measuring Awesome Agility – Stop the Weaponization of Metrics and Focus on What Matters!
Agile is best form of software development, since everything else we have tried. But how do we know?  What should we be watching to ensure that we are delivering the awesome agility outcomes that Agile promises?
Measuring Agile is not simply about watching velocity and sprint commitments. In an increasingly customer obsessed and data driven world, teams and organizations must have a much more holistic view of the metrics needed for successful outcomes.
If you are picturing a sea of metrics that need to be turned green then you have the wrong picture. What is needed a surgical focus on the metrics that matter by the teams that deliver your customer value.
This session will introduce the Intuit customer obsessed, outcome focused approach to Agile metrics along with techniques for implementation.
