We have created a successful, repeatable program that gives product makers the freedom and autonomy to work on projects that are impactful and provide them the most energy.  Rather you call it a Code Jam, Hackathon, or Innovation Days, there are key components to creating an environment in your organization that will allow innovation to flourish.  Through these components, your teams can build a community where they can innovate where they are most passionate, learn new skills, create products and features that are most valuable to customers, and build a sense of community.
